Our Bedillion Honey Farm Apple Pie Spiced Creamed Honey takes this Upside Down Puff Pastry Apple Pie Tart to the next level. And it's so easy!
Preheat your oven to 400F, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
1 Apple, washed, cored and sliced thinly
2-4 TBSP of Bedillion Honey Farm Apple Pie Spice Creamed Honey
1 sheet of thawed puff pastry
1 egg beaten together with a TBSP of water.
Cut the puff pastry into 4 rectangles and set aside.
On the parchment paper lined baking sheet, spread or drizzle about 1/2 TB Bedillion Honey Farm Apple Pie Spice Creamed Honey directly onto the paper in the shape of a rectangle smaller than the puff pastry rectangles. (Creamed honey can be gently warmed to soften it and make it easier to drizzle.)
Lay apple slices over the honey rectangle, slightly overlapping the slices, and drizzle with a bit more honey.
Cover each of the apple and honey piles with a rectangle of the cut puff pastry and gently press down and around the edges.
Brush the pastry with the egg wash, then bake until puffed and golden brown, about 25 mins.
Let cool briefly, then remove from the parchment and flip apple side up.
Serving options: Sprinkle with powder sugar, serve with ice cream, or just enjoy all by itself!
What is creamed honey?
Creamed honey starts out as the pure, raw, liquid honey we know and love. To cream it, we mix it with a small amount of previously creamed honey and spin it through our honey creaming machine. The honey also gets chilled briefly to encourage crystallization. We repeat the process twice to create the double spun, silky, spreadable creamed honey. For the Apple Pie Spiced Creamed Honey, we add just the right amount of Apple Pie Spice during that process.
How do you use creamed honey?
You can use creamed honey like a spread on toast, muffins, fresh fruit and cheese. You can use it with anything you enjoy with liquid honey. It will melt in your tea, coffee, or warm milk. Swirl it into oatmeal, spread on waffles or pancakes. Creamed honey doesn't require refrigeration, but it can be warmed to soften it for drizzling over ice cream or yogurt. And finally, sometimes creamed honey is just perfect right off the spoon. Its texture is like the smoothest fudge but with the goodness and deliciousness of pure honey!
